Senior Interior Designer
Gensler's Birmingham office is seeking an Interior Designer to join our team of design thinkers and doers, who specialise in crafting stories and creating experiences. You will work across a variety of projects in the professional services sector and be experienced in managing the client process, with strong presentation and relationship-building skills and the ability to understand and interpret client needs and requirements.
A self-motivated team player with a positive, communicative and collaborative approach, you will work closely with colleagues across Gensler’s practice areas, as well as with vendors and stakeholders at all levels. You will also bring the knowledge and confidence to guide less experienced members of the Interiors Team, offering advice and support where needed.
What you will do
Contributing to all project phases, including project strategy, test fits, schematic plans and conceptual designs; refining design solutions for design development; and collaborating with multiple disciplines.
Producing graphic presentations, including 3D renderings, for client presentations.
Supporting the preparation of construction documents, including plans, elevations, details and specifications.
Assisting in managing communication between the project team and clients.
Collaborating with consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies and other vendors to achieve project objectives.
Contributing to office and firmwide culture, initiatives, mentorship and talent development.
Supporting the Principals in developing communications with clients, contractors and design teams, helping to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
Your Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited institution.
Demonstrable 8+ years’ experience in Interior Design, covering all stages of design and development.
Strong working knowledge of Revit (essential).
Proven presentation and client relationship skills.
Excellent graphic and visualisation abilities to communicate design ideas effectively.
Strong collaboration skills, effective self-organisation and the ability to work well within a team environment.
Good understanding of FF&E, colour, and material specification and development.
